Pen hatching with no halftones: black is built from a dense mesh of lines and the white paper does the work of light. Pictures are dry and unsettling — a pier on piles with a sail far off, a stone crypt by a path, a corridor of clipped hedge — for detective and gothic stories. The series holds one device, perspective straight into the depth, while place and density change.
