A vintage plate: the tone is built by the density of fine cross-hatching and the light is simply bare paper. Pictures come out strict and unhurried, made for history, biography and memoirs, northern cliffs by the water, a house with a whitewashed wall, a face drawn down to the wrinkles. The series is five motifs on one theme: the subject always close and in front, the top of the sheet left as air.
